The RM of Argyle and the surrounding area offer a variety of activities, natural wonders and amazing history.  Multiple golf courses, lakes, and sporting events are just some of what there are for people of all ages to discover.  We are nestled nicely at the southwest end of the Tiger Hills.  The area also offers amazing one-day adventures or a relaxing atmosphere where you can be as busy or relaxed as you want to be.

Grund Frelsis

This is the oldest standing Icelandic Lutheran Church in Canada.  It was built in 1889 by volunteers under the direction of carpenters Byring Hallgrimsson and Arni Sveinson.  Grund Lutheran is a wood frame structure built on a simple rectangular plan, representative of late nineteenth-century church architecture in rural Manitoba.

The prevailing taste for the Gothic Revival style is expressed here with pointed windows and delicate window tracery on the tower.  Many of the early congregation members had first settled at New Iceland (Gimli) in the late 1870s, before homesteading in the Municipality of Argyle in the 1880s.  They were still living in log houses when they built this church, and it became the focal point of the community thereafter.  In 1964, the Frelsis Congregation joined Baldur Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Veteran Park

Home to the local Farmers Markets in the summer, Veterans Park is a beautifully landscaped rest stop, with a picnic shelter built to resemble the railway station.  With benches and a brick path surrounding the beautiful flower beds and public washrooms, it is a very nice place to stop amongst your travels, and enjoy our wonderful community!
